To prepare competent physicians with strong scientific capabilities and outstanding skills, who possess a high level of competitiveness and provide high-quality medical services. The department also contributes to service and research activities, producing scientific output that keeps pace with advances in medical sciences, with the ability to integrate and collaborate with local and international institutions in the same field.

1. Provide students with basic and advanced knowledge of the anatomy of the eye and the functions of its parts. 2. Enable students to understand and diagnose common and complex eye diseases based on clinical and scientific standards. 3. Develop students’ clinical skills in examining and diagnosing eye diseases using modern equipment and technologies. 4. Introduce students to various treatment options (pharmacological, surgical, and non-surgical), and the principles of their safe and effective use. 5. Link eye diseases to systemic health problems, enhancing a holistic understanding of human health. 6. Promote awareness of the importance of prevention and early detection of vision-impairing eye diseases such as low vision and blindness. 7. Encourage students to engage in scientific research in the field of ophthalmology by: o Identifying research problems relevant to the community. o Applying scientific research methodology in study design. o Analyzing data and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals. 8. Promote collaborative research with other departments locally and internationally to produce multidisciplinary studies with practical impact.

High school diploma with a minimum GPA of 75%, passing the personal interview, passing written tests if any, submitting all required documents within specified deadlines.
