The Department of Forests and Range Sciences at the University of Derna was established in the academic year 2011-2012 AD. Its objective is to qualify specialized personnel who contribute to the development and management of forests and rangelands. The department also participates in programs for the conservation of natural vegetation cover, combating desertification, preserving biodiversity, and achieving the optimal utilization of these natural resources.
The Department of Natural Resources is one of the scientific departments affiliated with the College of Natural Resources at the University of Derna. It is concerned with studying Libya's abundant natural resources, such as water, soil, forests, livestock, and minerals, with the aim of managing them sustainably and preserving them for future generations.
