Department of Accounting
The department seeks to advance the accounting profession, keep pace with technical and technological developments in this important filed, create a scientific environment for the development of scientific research in the field of accounting, and provide the labor market with scientifically and practically qualified cadres capable, with the competence of department's professors and students, of competing with their counterparts in the accounting filed. Since its establishment, the department has made great efforts to achieve its goals in education, training, and accounting consulting, and it continues to do its utmost in this filed. The department has continuously contributed to all available fields to meet the needs of the local and national labor market. The department, in the college's four branches, awards a bachelor's degree after four years of study (eight closed semesters), and specialization begins after the first year (beginning of the third semester).
Department of Business Administration
The Department of Business Administration is one of the pioneering departments established at the Faculty of Economics, University of Derna, in 1992. It is a discipline that is indispensable in all types of organizations, both commercial and non-commercial, governmental and private, for-profit and non-profit. As a result, the demand for graduates in this field is rapidly increasing, which has granted the profession of management a distinguished status and significance in all societies. Specialized studies have been dedicated to it, and scientific and professional bodies have been formed to monitor developments, qualify their members, and work on enhancing their competencies and developing their skills in light of global advancements.
Department of Economics
The Department of Economics is one of the pioneering departments established alongside the founding of the College of Economics – Derna in 1991. The department aspires to develop highly specialized economic professionals who are well-qualified to enter the field of economics with effectiveness and competence. It focuses on equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to meet career challenges and adapt to potential changes across various economic fields. This is achieved through the provision of educational programs that emphasize economic aspects and align with labor market needs, enabling students to acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills. To obtain the Bachelor's degree in Economics, students must successfully complete 45 compulsory courses as part of a four-year academic program (eight regular semesters)
Department of Finance and Banking
The Department of Finance and Banking was established in 2010 as part of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Derna. Its foundation aimed to meet the labor market’s need for specialized professionals in finance, banking, and investment. We are constantly striving to equip students with skills and knowledge that align with the latest trends and requirements of higher education. Our goal is to bridge the gap between theory and practice by utilizing modern teaching technologies and organizing field visits to branches and departments of commercial banks. The department is also committed to attracting a distinguished group of academically outstanding faculty members
Department of Political Science
The initial steps in the department’s journey began in 2007 when the Faculty of Economics at Omar Al-Mukhtar University, Derna Branch (at that time), started teaching Political Science as a subject for students in the General Studies program. The Department of Political Science was officially established based on the decision of the President of Omar Al-Mukhtar University No. (195) issued on 19/5/2009, thanks to the combined efforts of the founding faculty members. The Department of Political Science at the Derna branch was opened in the academic year 2011/2012

The Department of Economics at the University of Derna aspires to be the leading economics department at the local and regional levels. It aims to advance knowledge in the various fields and branches of economics, and to contribute to the development of specialized academic professionals capable of creative thinking, scientific analysis, and logical reasoning. These professionals should be able to diagnose and address economic problems and crises on local, regional, and international levels
