About the College

Upon the establishment of the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences in Al-Bayda and the opening of five departments therein, namely the Department of Environmental Sciences, the Department of Forestry and Range Management, the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Marine Resources, and the Department of Wildlife, it initially opened branches of the college in Tobruk and Al-Qubba due to the presence of university branches in those cities at the time. These branches encompassed a group of departments. In the academic year 2011/2012, the Department of Forestry and Range Management was inaugurated in Derna. Since then, efforts were made to incorporate the Department of Environmental Sciences, which was affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Derna upon its establishment, considering it a core department of the college. This incorporation was not achieved until the issuance of the esteemed decision by the President of Omar Al-Mukhtar University, No. (70) of 2019 AD, concerning the transfer of a scientific department. According to this decision, the affiliation of the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Derna was transferred to the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences in Derna under the designation of the Department of Environmental Sciences. Subsequently, the esteemed decision by the President of Omar Al-Mukhtar University, No. (675) of 2019 AD, was issued regarding the restructuring of the branches of the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences in Derna and Al-Qubba to be as follows:
