The Department of Economics is one of the pioneering departments established alongside the founding of the College of Economics – Derna in 1991. The department aspires to develop highly specialized economic professionals who are well-qualified to enter the field of economics with effectiveness and competence. It focuses on equipping students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to meet career challenges and adapt to potential changes across various economic fields.
This is achieved through the provision of educational programs that emphasize economic aspects and align with labor market needs, enabling students to acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills. To obtain the Bachelor's degree in Economics, students must successfully complete 45 compulsory courses as part of a four-year academic program (eight regular semesters)
