Bachelor

Bachelor of Architectural Engineering

Established in 1991, the Department of Architectural Engineering has gained extensive experience, enabling it to brilliant in both academic and practical areas. The curriculum has been developed in three phases by a distinguished team of seasoned faculty members, including experts from the local community as well as from neighboring Arab countries. This collaboration has enriched the program with a diverse blend of local and international knowledge and expertise. Architectural Engineering focused on the design and construction of buildings. The discipline integrates various aspects of construction engineering, from architectural design to building execution. Graduates are expected to have a thorough understanding of all building components, including design, construction, ventilation, circulation, electrical systems, and plumbing. Vision: The department aims to achieve the highest levels of competence, excellence, and creativity in both architectural education and professional practice after graduation. Mission: To pursue continuous development and keep pace with all factors supporting the quality of higher education—both theoretical and practical—while responding to the evolving needs of society and the labor market.

Bachelor of Art Education

The Department of Art Education is a leading local institution specializing in art education. With the expansion of education in Libya, there was a growing need for qualified art teachers across all educational levels. To address this, the department was established in 1991 to prepare skilled teachers and researchers to fill this gap. Vision: To be a distinguished leader locally and regionally by creating an environment that prepares competent teachers, specialists, and researchers with high educational, research, and cultural standards, serving the community effectively. Mission: The department aims to fulfill its educational, scientific, and professional mission by preparing qualified art educators and specialists, promoting research, and providing specialized services and professional consultations that enrich the field and meet the needs of both public and private sectors.

Bachelor of Ceramics

The Department of Ceramics aims to equip students with fundamental principles, specialized skills, and the capacity for innovative thinking in designing and producing ceramic products—both artistic and functional—characterized by aesthetic quality. Through its curriculum, students develop cognitive and practical skills by studying the essential components of ceramic objects according to their intended use, including raw materials for the body and surface glazing, ensuring compatibility between them. The program also emphasizes design elements and fosters a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between functional and aesthetic requirements in ceramic products. Vision: The department seeks to gain community trust and establish a distinguished position among ceramics programs in Libya by providing an exceptional environment for education, learning, scientific research, and community service across diverse fields. Mission: To graduate specialized designers and skilled producers in ceramics, equipped with the knowledge and expertise necessary to meet labor market demands using contemporary design methods and advanced technologies, while fostering individual creativity and innovation.

Bachelor of Graphic Design

The program aims to develop practical skills in graphic design, including print design, artistic printing, and calligraphy, adhering to academic and professional standards. Vision: To promote scientific and artistic research in arts and design, addressing the needs of the local community and supporting development plans. Mission: To provide distinguished academic and professional training for specialists in graphic design, keeping pace with creative and technological advancements across diverse design fields. Objectives: The department seeks to deliver advanced educational services through innovative research projects in graphic design, print production, and calligraphy, aiming to achieve global standards and produce graduates who meet evolving market demands. Curriculum: The curriculum consists of mandatory core courses forming the foundation of the specialization: at least 59% are specialized graphic design courses, 30% are supporting art courses, and 11% are general education courses.

Bachelor of Interior Architecture Engineering

The department first establish in 1991, under the name of interior design. The department was an independent department and did not include under the architecture department until 1999. Vision: the department seeks to achieve excellence by providing all new knowledge from the specialization related to interior architecture, in a manner that is compatible with our local environment as well as keeping pace with global developments using modern methods by updating technical information Mission: the department seeks to provide scientific cadres and distinguished skills in the field of interior subjects to the standards.

Bachelor of Painting

The Department of Painting provides advanced technical resources and adheres to international academic standards, with the goal of graduating students who possess creative excellence and outstanding skills in the visual arts, meeting the demands of the contemporary art world. Vision: The Painting and Drawing Program aspires to produce graduates who can advance the fields of painting and drawing through the use of innovative techniques, enriching the arts movement within a global context. Mission: The department is committed to preparing highly qualified art professionals through a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theoretical courses—covering historical, intellectual, aesthetic, creative, and critical perspectives—with practical training in painting, drawing, and contemporary art techniques. Objectives: The Department of Painting aims to develop skilled and innovative visual artists who can elevate the aesthetic sensibilities of society. The department also offers robust academic and research opportunities, preparing graduates to compete both locally and internationally, and to positively influence society by fostering greater appreciation for art and aesthetics. Program Structure The curriculum consists of core compulsory courses that establish the foundation of the specialization and fulfill the department’s main objectives. These are divided into: Specialization courses, comprising at least 56% of the total curriculum, supporting courses, representing 32%, and general courses, accounting for 12%.

Bachelor of Sculpture

The Sculpture Department develops skilled, innovative artists through technical training, creative research, and critical thinking. Students create sculptural works for cultural, social, and institutional spaces, participate in exhibitions, and engage with modern technologies. Vision: To advance sculptural practice through material innovation, technical excellence, and artistic growth, enriching Libya’s cultural landscape. Mission: To graduate sculptors who combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary techniques.

Bachelor of Urban Design Engineering

The Department of Urban Design was established in 2005/2006 as part of the collage developing and extensions. The department is considered a branch of Urban Planning and is balanced in specialization between Urban Planning and Architectural Design. So it was an important branch to serve the need of the city and its ambitious to develop the roads, the open spaces and much more urban planning and design issues Department Vision To be a leading department in the field of urban design specialization, providing scientifically and practically qualified cadres who succeed in solving and improving the city’s problems for the better. Department Mission Continuous improvement and development to raise the efficiency and quality of education in the Department of Urban Design Engineering at all levels — including staff, curricula, teaching methods, and a suitable environment to produce outputs that meet the needs of society, the city, and the labor market. Student-Focused Goals  Equip students with the skills to identify and solve design and planning challenges, and to make informed decisions.  Prepare graduates to actively contribute to urban development and effectively address city-related design and planning issues.
